Daleké Dušníky

Village Character and History

Historically, Daleké Dušníky is characterized as a village green settlement. The village centre features distinctive rural buildings with large agricultural farmsteads. The history reaches back at least to 1357. Daleké Dušníky is first mentioned in a document issued by the Bohemian king and emperor Charles IV, through which he founded the collegiate chapter at Karlštejn. Another visible testimony is the Chapel of the Holy Trinity, dating from 1874. Thus, the historical arc extends from the documentary mention in the 14th century to the visible sacred building of the 19th century.

Hiking Between the Village and the Hilly Landscape

A red-marked hiking trail runs through Daleké Dušníky. The terrain in Daleké Dušníky is also suitable for hiking. To the east of the village stretches a densely forested hilly landscape that is particularly popular with keen mushroom pickers. Linden Tree, Ponds and Water Experiences

An old linden tree stands in the northern part of Daleké Dušníky and is considered the oldest tree in the municipality. A cross and a stone terrace are located beside it. The pond at Holobrády lies within sight of this old linden tree in the north of Daleké Dušníky. In the direction of Nečín, there is also a fire pond that is used as a bathing spot in summer. Together, these provide a distinctive tree site, a pond within sight and a seasonally used bathing spot as clearly different nature experiences.

Customs Throughout the Year

On Maundy Thursday, Daleké Dušníky maintains the old tradition of Easter clacking. The clackers replace the bells, and the participants walk together through the village. In good weather, people meet at the fire station for the Easter clacking and roast their own sausages there. A maypole is erected at the chapel every year. After the annual maypole erection, a small fire with a witch figure is lit; people then sit together around the fire. Organizing a carnival procession is also part of local community life. Thus, Easter clacking combines a walk through the village with roasting sausages together, while the maypole festival is characterized by the fire and the gathering around it afterwards.
