Hudčice – History, Memorial Sites and Hiking Trail

Hudčice is a destination for travelers who want to combine Czech local history with a marked hiking route and cultural traces that can be clearly placed in context. The history of the village spans from a chapel dating from the early 20th century to memorial sites commemorating people and events of the 20th century. This historical setting is complemented by railway line 203 Březnice–Strakonice and the red-marked Hudčice–Koupě–Hvožďany hiking trail.

Chapel and memorial sites in Hudčice

Construction of the chapel in Hudčice began in 1909. On the village square next to the chapel stands the Hudčice memorial to those who fell in the First World War, erected in 1920. The memorial bears the names of local soldiers who died in the First World War. Stone from the Hudčice quarry “Za hory” was also used for the Žižka Monument in Žižkov.
