Voznice: Hiking Trails, Village Culture and Historic Houses

Voznice is a place where hiking trails, lively village traditions and unusual examples of architectural and cultural history come together. As early as the 1930s and 1940s, Voznice was a popular retreat for Prague artists. Today, different travel interests can be combined here: you can walk through the central part of the village, admire historic buildings, discover local festivals or choose a longer route through the surrounding area.

Local History and Notable Buildings

A distinctive memorial site is located by the dam of Velký rybník in Voznice. There stands a statue of Saint John of Nepomuk, which is listed as a cultural monument in the Central Register of Cultural Monuments. It is therefore one of the village’s specific cultural and historical points of interest, without this implying a regular visitor offering or any particular accessibility.

Two residential buildings also give Voznice a distinctive architectural profile. House No. 209 is a single-storey log building that can be dated to the 18th century. Another 14 km hiking route leads from Dobříš via Voznice to Stará Huť. It is considered suitable for older children, school groups and seniors. In the vicinity of Voznice, this route also runs along the edge of the Andělské schody nature reserve and natural monument. The route therefore connects the village with a specifically protected landscape area.

Village Traditions for Children and Adults

Voznické čarodějnice is aimed at adults and children. Traditionally, a maypole is erected as part of the event. The festival also includes grilling sausages and a community gathering for local residents. A witch trail, face painting for children and refreshments round out the program. Those who value local customs and an event for several generations when planning their trip will therefore find a distinctly different experience here from a day devoted purely to sightseeing.

A second tradition is Voznický masopust. It includes a masked procession through the village, with stops at houses where dancing takes place and a blessing is given if desired there. Masopust also includes a carnival gathering at the local bistro, where traditional refreshments can be purchased. The municipality of Voznice also invited people to the 3rd Voznický masopust. These details show the festive character of the village without presupposing a specific event date.
