Dobříš

Dobříš combines castle history, interactive exhibitions and several routes through the town and nature. This allows you to shape your stay according to different interests: with historic rooms in Dobříš Castle, a playful city experience or walks to sites of cultural and historical significance and natural attractions.

Dobříš Castle between history and modern interpretation

The castle’s present appearance dates from its reconstruction between 1745 and 1765, after an earlier fire had almost destroyed the building. In the Colloredo-Mannsfeld exhibition on the first floor of the south wing, rooms furnished as they presumably looked in the 17th and 18th centuries meet modernly designed areas with large touchscreens and projections.

The interactive tour offers an audio guide for your own phone or the free loan of an MP4 device at the exhibition entrance. The French Park also belongs to the castle. It covers 2 hectares and is a rare example of Rococo garden architecture. The Orangerie houses interactive exhibitions for the whole family, the Zdeněk and Emilie Miler Gallery, and an exhibition about the castle gardens.

City history as a tour and game

The Muzeum města Dobříše is also located in a special historic building: the late Baroque Kopáčkův dům traces its history back to the 15th century. The museum includes “Exponáty v ulicích”, an interactive outdoor game. QR codes are located at the individual stations, combining the history of the town with independent exploration.

The “Exponáty v ulicích” route is approximately 2.5 km long and can be completed on foot in about 40 minutes. You will need additional time to solve the puzzles and search for the QR codes. If you prefer to discover historic places in a traditional sequence, the Small Tour (Malý okruh) leads through the centre of Dobříš. At 21 stations, you will learn interesting facts about historic places in the town.

Routes into the nature around Dobříš

The Dobříšská stezka poznání – Dobříšova stezka opened on 1 April 2025. Information panels focus on animals, birds, plants and trees. The Lesní stezka leaves the built-up area, leads into nature and presents 15 extraordinary natural and cultural-historical sites around Dobříš.

A second city walk also leaves the centre and leads into quieter parts of the town. At 18 stations, it provides information about Dobříš’s industry and the surrounding nature. This gives you different focuses to choose from when planning: the castle and exhibition, central town history, or a longer route through quieter areas and nature.
