Liptál Between an Educational Trail, Castle and Special Natural Sites

Liptál combines a marked educational trail with historic buildings and unusual natural attractions. The publicly accessible Kobzáňův chodník leads from the center of Liptál through Obora toward Vartovna. One marked stop along this educational trail is located at Liptál Castle. This makes it possible to combine orientation in the village with exploring the surrounding area, without having to view the cultural highlights separately from the natural experience.

Wet Meadows, Travertine and Bat Roosts

The Přírodní památka Pivovařiska nature monument is located in the cadastral area of Liptál. Its wet meadow and sun-exposed slopes provide suitable conditions for orchids and rare wetland plants.

Another natural feature can be found in the gorge near the Obora forester’s lodge: at a spring outlet there is a travertine mound considered the largest in the Vsetín District. Traces of earlier use are also part of the local landscape. Old adits in Liptál remain from the mining of fine-grained sandstone used to make whetstones. Today, they serve as winter quarters for bats, particularly the lesser horseshoe bat. Visitors can thus experience an unusual connection between geology, former crafts and protected animal habitats.

Castle, Churches and Living Traditions

Liptál Castle was built in the center of Liptál at the end of the 17th century and is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. In front of the castle, the remains of a landscape park from the early 19th century are freely accessible. The village’s cultural character also includes the Roman Catholic Church of St. Michael the Archangel, dating from 1796, and the Evangelical church from 1907.

The castle grounds also house the permanent exhibition of Jan Kobzáň. It includes a painting loaned by the museum in Holešov. Those interested in regional culture will therefore find not only historic architecture here, but also a concrete insight into an exhibition.

An important tradition is the Liptálské slavnosti festival. This international folklore festival has been held every year since 1970. The program of the 57th Liptálské slavnosti on August 22, 2026, included craft days with woodcarvers, blacksmiths and other traditional crafts, as well as the opening of a fair. The program also listed a castle café serving coffee, cake, Frgály, beer, wine and non-alcoholic drinks.

Individual event dates also show how visits can be organized: On February 7, 2026, the Liptál municipality’s event schedule included opening hours for the Muzeum Jana Kobzáně from 1:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. On July 6, 2026, guided tours of Liptál Castle were scheduled for 2:00, 3:00 and 4:00 p.m.

Cycling-Related Facilities in the Village

Since July 30, 2024, an electric bicycle charging station has been in operation at the fire station in Liptál. A bicycle repair stand is located at a pavilion by the pump track in the sports complex. In addition to the local sports complex, there is also a new, varied pump track with an asphalt surface.
