A long-standing glassmaking tradition

Sklárna Květná 1794 is one of Moravia’s oldest continuously operating glassworks. Its roots go back to 1794 – a period that makes the glassworks a special cultural destination in Květná. Its artisanal focus remains defining today: according to its own information, the products are made entirely by hand. In 2025, Sklárna Květná also received the Czech Grand Design award in the “Manufacturer of the Year” category.

What the museum in Květná showcases

The Sklárna Květná 1794 Museum documents the development of glassmaking from its beginnings to the present day. A visit therefore conveys not just a single historical period, but spans the development of the craft over time. At the museum, you can also observe traditional techniques of artisanal glassmaking. This makes the site particularly interesting if you would like to experience the difference between visiting an exhibition and having an informative encounter with the manufacturing process. Advance reservations are required for the museum’s guided tours in Czech. This is one of the most important practical details for planning your day: anyone wishing to take the tour should schedule it before visiting rather than assuming that the visit can be arranged entirely spontaneously.

A walk and bicycle ride through forests and meadows

The Květná Educational Trail is suitable for walkers and experienced cyclists. The trail runs partly through forests and across meadows, creating a clear contrast in scenery to the concentrated atmosphere of the glassworks and museum. Depending on your preferred itinerary, you can therefore combine a cultural focus in Květná with an outdoor route. This separation is helpful for families with different interests: while the history of glassmaking provides an insight into a regional craft, the educational trail offers another way to experience the surroundings. The Pramen U Cicůrku spring is also part of the landscape around Květná. It is a mountain spring in the Květná district of the municipality of Strání.

A seasonal day at the swimming pool

Another option is the Strání–Květná outdoor swimming pool. It is located in Květná on Ořechová and, weather permitting, is open daily from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. from 1 July to 31 August. It thus complements the cultural and natural attractions with a seasonal activity whose use depends on the stated summer dates and weather conditions.
