Landscape around Kelčský Javorník

Kelčský Javorník defines the setting of Podhradní Lhota: the village lies at the foot of the highest peak in the Hostýnské vrchy. From Šaumburk, you can look out over the ridges of the Hostýnské vrchy and the surrounding landscape. The area thus brings together Podhradní Lhota’s mountain setting and wide views of the surrounding highlands.

Distinguishing Šaumburk and Nový Šaumburk

Šaumburk castle ruin lies southwest of Podhradní Lhota, higher up. The site was built in the years after 1272 by Bruno of Schauenburg, Bishop of Olomouc. Relief-like remains of buildings, along with ramparts and ditches, have been preserved there.

Southeast of Podhradní Lhota, at the Bašta site at an elevation of 530 m above sea level, lies the Nový Šaumburk castle ruin, which is incorrectly known as Zubříč. On its oval central area, the remains of the outer rampart and a ditch, as well as some wall remains, are clearly visible. Šaumburk and Nový Šaumburk are therefore located in different places and each has its own terrain features.

Near the bus stops stands the restored Chapel of the Seven Sorrows of the Virgin Mary. It dates from the 19th century and therefore from a different period than Šaumburk, which was built in the years after 1272.

Getting there and connection with the village

Podhradní Lhota railway station is located on the line 303 between Kojetín and Valašské Meziříčí. All platforms at Podhradní Lhota railway station are accessible without barriers.

The Tesák cycling loop via Troják

The 32 km Tesák cycling loop via Troják runs through Podhradní Lhota. From there, it continues to Rajnochovice and then connects to Route 5120 and the Hostýnské vrchy educational trail. This allows you to combine the loop with additional regional route sections if you are planning a longer cycling tour.
