Rusava: Nature, Winter Sports and Regional History

Discover the Landscape Around Rusava

A particularly tangible way to explore the landscape is the Rusavské chodníčky nature trail. It was created in 2007 with the support of the Zlín Region and comprises seven stations. The trail provides information about the landscape and nature around Rusava and the Hostýnské vrchy, the original inhabitants of Rusava, and the local animal and plant life. It runs above Rusava along the edge of pastures and meadows near Skalný and Klapinov. This makes it possible to combine a stay with a hike that focuses not only on the surroundings but also on their natural and settlement history.

A Day at the Pool or Winter Sports

On warmer days, Koupaliště Rusava offers a 43-meter-long large pool with a slide and water fountains. The water in the pool is heated using solar collectors. The swimming pool therefore offers an independent option for a relaxing day, without requiring a cultural and historical program to be the main focus.

During the cold season, the Lyžařské středisko Rusava ski resort is located directly in Rusava. Two tow lifts serve slopes for beginners and active winter sports enthusiasts. The ski area also has a ski and snowboard equipment rental service, as well as the Eskimák ski school, which offers ski and snowboard lessons. Evening skiing is also possible under floodlights. This means Rusava can accommodate different daily schedules: on the slopes or in lessons during the day, followed later by skiing under artificial lighting.

Church, Museum and Vernacular Architecture

The stone Evangelical Church of the Holy Trinity is located in the center of Rusava. The Muzeum Rusava, housed in the municipal office building, offers a more local-history-oriented insight. It shows what the town looked like in past centuries. The exhibits include embroidered Wallachian costumes, old tools, school equipment and wooden grain containers hollowed out from tree trunks. The museum can be visited by prior telephone or email arrangement.

Kašparova vila is also part of the town's architectural and cultural character. It is a preserved example of vernacular architecture in Rusava. The renowned painter and illustrator Adolf Kašpar had the villa built for himself and his family in 1932.
