Lovosice between urban history and active landscapes

Lovosice combines distinctive buildings with green excursion destinations and routes for different day plans. The Mírový Church of the Czechoslovak Hussite Church stands out in the cityscape. It is classified as a cultural monument and is one of the defining urban elements of Lovosice. There is also the Renaissance chateau, which was originally designed in the Renaissance style and built between 1545 and 1574. The chateau is currently used for educational purposes. In front of it, on the site of the demolished farmyard, there is now a municipal park with two pavilions.

Architecture and culture in the city

The Church of St. Wenceslas also makes the history of Lovosice visible through concrete forms. The single-nave, rectangular building has a tower above the façade. Its furnishings are predominantly Rococo and date from the second half of the 18th century. The Pfannschmidt Villa provides a different architectural accent. It was built from 1881 and completed around 1887. Preserved features include restored stucco ceilings, richly decorated ceiling paintings, wood panelling and an original tiled stove.

The historic Pfannschmidt Villa is also a venue for regular events. Lectures, discussion sessions, exhibitions and concerts take place there. In addition, the LOVO Gallery is intended as a space for the development of contemporary art and for presenting collections by important artists. The cultural spectrum therefore extends from historic sacred and secular buildings to contemporary artistic ideas.

Osmička Forest Park and paths by the water

For a more active stay, Osmička Forest Park offers clearly distinct options. There are two tracks for runners and inline skaters: the shorter one is 500 metres long, while the longer one measures 1 kilometre. The forest park also has a children's playground and an outdoor gym. This brings exercise, play and time in a green setting together in one described location, without requiring visitors to choose the same activity.

A cycling route leads from Osmička Forest Park to the ferry to Malé Žernoseky. The connection between Lovosice and Píšťany is also associated with bicycles and family equipment: a new vessel called Agnes was acquired for this ferry, offering more space for prams and bicycles. The ferry itself is therefore a distinctive part of the local orientation, while the cycling route connects the forest park with this destination.

Hiking up Lovoš

Those who would like to combine their stay with a hike can take a green-marked hiking trail from Lovosice up Lovoš. This specific route complements the city's cultural destinations and cycling options with a hiking option.
