Discover Droužkovice

Droužkovice combines an unusually vivid local history with cycle paths, bodies of water and events. This creates a destination for you where historical discoveries, active days and local traditions exist side by side. When choosing accommodation, you can orient yourself according to these different focuses.

Church and Local History

The Church of St. Nicholas stands at the center of the village’s history. It was significantly rebuilt in the second half of the 15th century and at the beginning of the 16th century. A defensive floor was built above the chancel, and the church also received a polygonal tower with loopholes that served as a bell tower. It thus became the fortified center of the village. Part of the surviving surrounding wall is more than 120 centimeters wide.

The Chapel of the Virgin Mary also has clear architectural features: its floor plan is rectangular, while the chancel terminates on three sides. A wooden Baroque Pietà from the mid-18th century once stood there. The area around Droužkovice has also been inhabited since the Neolithic period; archaeological finds from the landscape attest to trade connections with the ancient Mediterranean region.

Cycle Paths for Active Days

The cycle route running through Droužkovice connects the route from Kadaň to Žatec with further cycle paths leading as far as Litoměřice. For planning your day, this connection opens up several directions: the section between Kadaň and Žatec can be combined with the continuing paths to Litoměřice, allowing you to adjust the tour length to your preferred daily rhythm. Droužkovice remains an orientation point along the route, without requiring you to limit yourself to a single local loop. A public CykloDen took place along the cycle path connecting Spořice, Droužkovice and Březno. Each municipality had a checkpoint with a stamp card. These stations established fixed intermediate destinations and gave the ride a playful element: collecting the stamps was part of the shared experience along the way, alongside following the route. This allows you to organize the ride by route, municipality and checkpoint reached, rather than defining only a starting point and a destination. The three place names and the checkpoints provide several concrete reference points along the way.

Festivals with Local Character

Masopust includes a procession through the village, refreshments for visitors, a satirical performance, live music and a raffle. Since 2000, the folk and country music festival “Fesťáček u vody” has also been held at Droužkovice’s local bathing area. At the XVIII edition of the Droužkovické Vodní hrátky, teams compete against one another in various water sports disciplines. A traditional witch-burning event with competitions, music and sausages roasted over a campfire was announced for April 30, 2025, at the bathing area.

Water, Landscape and Special Finds

Local attractions include replicas of menhirs and revitalized ponds. Another historical reference point is the southern slope of Farářka Hill: an extraordinary find from the Early Iron Age was made there. These features complement the church and event themes with experiences focused on the landscape and archaeology.
