Discover Klášterec Nad Ohří
Klášterec Nad Ohří combines historic architecture, collections, parkland and a variety of excursion ideas. If you would like to combine culture with walks, water activities and protected landscapes during your trip to the Czech Republic, you will find several clearly distinct experiences here.
Castle, Porcelain and Park
Zámek a muzeum porcelánu is a Neo-Gothic castle on the banks of the Ohře and the most important landmark of Klášterec nad Ohří. It houses a porcelain exhibition from the collections of the Museum of Decorative Arts in Prague. In the castle grounds, the Sala terrena features sculptural decoration by Jan Brokof. At this historic site, you can therefore encounter architecture, porcelain culture and sculptural design all in one place.
Zámecký park is a ten-hectare English landscape park with 150 tree species from around the world. With its ten hectares and 150 tree species, the park forms a distinct area for walks within the castle grounds. In the northern part of Zámecký park is the Sedm bolestí Panny Marie chapel complex. The park complements a visit to the castle with its own landscape perspective and makes the differences between collections, architecture and designed nature visible.
Museums and Contemporary Art
Muzeum hodin comprises antique clocks from a private collection; the oldest pieces date from 1580. In 2014, Muzeum hodin opened a permanent exhibition of antique clocks. The combination of a private collection and the permanent exhibition opened in 2014 gives the visit a clear historical focus. Městská galerie Kryt offers a different emphasis: in regular monthly exhibition cycles, it presents contemporary Czech and international art. This allows you to include both historical objects and changing contemporary art in your cultural plans.
Water, Spa and Regional Features
The Aquapark on the outskirts of Klášterec nad Ohří is a seasonal facility with water attractions for children and adults. It is open during the summer season, weather permitting. Attractions include water slides measuring 28 m, 68 m and 128 m in length, a children's pool and a diving tower. The Evženie spa complex also includes a wellness area, swimming pool, whirlpool, infrared saunas, a salt cave and sports facilities.
At the information centre in the spa area, you can buy Klášterecké oplatky. For local orientation, the tourist information centre of Klášterec nad Ohří is located beneath the town hall on the town square. Both notes combine practical orientation with a regional speciality without overshadowing the town's cultural focus.
Nature Trail and Protected Landscape
For a hike, Cesta z města is a specific starting point: the nature trail begins above Útočiště and follows the blue hiking trail markings towards Měděnec. In the vicinity of Klášterec nad Ohří and Kadaň, there is also Úhošť, a 114.5-hectare national nature reserve.
