The village’s history also reaches far back: the first written mention of Ctiněves dates from 1318. The village also preserves a special tradition. According to local legend, the forefather of Bohemia, Praotec Čech, is buried in the Church of St. Matthew. For visitors, this creates a cultural connection that extends beyond the visible architectural history, without equating the legend with historical evidence.

Church Festival and Local Specialties

Every year, the Posvícení church festival takes place in Ctiněves on the Sunday after the feast of Saint Matthew. The date is part of the local tradition and can be a special occasion for planning your trip if you would like to get to know the village in connection with its festival calendar.

The adjoining taproom can accommodate up to 60 people. The beers bear the designation “ČESKÉ STŘEDOHOŘÍ Regionální produkt”.
