Blšany U Loun – Culture, Trails and Nature in the Czech Republic

Blšany U Loun is associated with the Zámeček, listed as an immovable cultural monument, the yellow-marked hiking trail no. 6940 and Blšanský Chlum.

Trails through the village and surrounding countryside

Cycling route no. 202 “Louny – Peruc” passes through Blšany u Loun. From Černčice, it follows road III/22941 into the village centre and then continues eastwards on a local road to Veltěže. The yellow-marked hiking trail no. 6940 “Louny, square – Blšanský chlum – Brloh” passes through the administrative area of Blšany u Loun, branches off there towards Blšanský chlum and then continues in the direction of Chlumčany and Brloh.

Zámeček and memorial sites

Zámeček Blšany u Loun originated from an older fortified manor. Its remains are now incorporated into the residential structure of the château. In the second half of the 17th century, the fortified complex was converted into a Baroque château. Zámeček, together with its granary, is listed as an immovable cultural monument under registration number 42653/5-1149.

Another historical landmark is the war memorial in Blšany u Loun. It was erected in 1947 in memory of local victims of the Second World War and also commemorates residents who fell in the First World War or did not return from the battlefields. At the memorial, there is a newly created access path outside the fenced area, as well as a newly laid lawn.

Rybník, Blšanský Chlum and protected nature

The Rybník pond lies in the centre of Blšany u Loun, near the children’s playground and Blšanský zámek. Fishing permits for Rybník are available at the municipal office during office hours. Around Blšanský Chlum, the area is partly exposed by an abandoned quarry and natural outcrops of Tertiary volcanic rocks.

The Blšanský Chlum area is also designated as a European Site of Community Importance for the protection of the Jersey tiger moth (Callimorpha quadripunctaria). It comprises xerothermic biotopes, meaning heat-loving habitats, as well as rare and specially protected plant and invertebrate species. This natural area complements the marked trails with a geological and ecological focus. Rybník lies near Zámeček at the centre, while the trails, outcrops and protected area characterise Blšanský Chlum.

Sports and events in the village

The Sportovní centrum has a hall or gymnasium and table tennis facilities. Both can be reserved for a fee by prior telephone arrangement with the municipal office. In 2026, beadwork and wirework sessions with Alena Prailová are regularly held at the Blšany u Loun library on Thursdays from 5:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m., unless another event has been scheduled. Before using the Sportovní centrum, you should clarify the telephone arrangement, reservation with the municipal office and fee in advance.
