Vacenovice

Vacenovice combines Habaner history, wine tradition and a landscape shaped by pine trees. At its center are the old Habánský sklep and the Muzeum Vacenovice; the natural area also includes the Jezero Nature Monument in the cadastral territory of Vacenovice u Kyjova. There are also walking and cycling opportunities around Rúdník, as well as Náklo Hill with its views. If you would like to combine culture and landscape during your stay, Vacenovice offers several clearly distinct points of interest for doing so.

Habánský sklep and Muzeum Vacenovice

In the center of Vacenovice stands the old Habánský sklep, which probably dates back to the 16th century. The cellar houses an exhibition about Habaner ceramics. On display are originals and replicas, a model of a Habaner house, and discovered Habaner kilns. A visit therefore offers more than the building itself, also providing insights into the ceramic history of the Habaners.

The Habánský sklep can be visited during the office hours of the Vacenovice municipal office by prior personal or telephone arrangement. The visit is therefore subject to these office hours and to an advance agreement. This is particularly important if the cellar is to be a fixed part of your day's itinerary.

The Muzeum Vacenovice uses the front living area, dating from 1904, as a museum and farmhouse room. The former stables, added in 1946, were converted into a small hall for smaller exhibitions and lectures. Since 2008, the Muzeum Vacenovice has collected, processed and presented historical and ethnographic information and artifacts, while also rescuing and restoring them. This means that visitors encounter both a historic living area and preserved evidence of local life.

Landscape between Windblown Sands and Water Areas

Vacenovice lies in a flat to gently hilly landscape on windblown sands; the surroundings are predominantly characterized by pine forests. The Jezero Nature Monument in the cadastral territory of Vacenovice u Kyjova protects a distinctive natural area. Its protected features include wet to waterlogged meadows, a shallow body of water and a willow-poplar grove. The landscape can therefore be experienced not only as a forest area, but also through a variety of moist and waterside habitats.

A prominent viewpoint is Náklo Hill on the boundary of the municipalities of Vacenovice, Ratíškovice, Milotice and Dubňany. A lily cross stands there, along with seated statues of the merchant Sámo, Saints Cyril and Methodius, and Prince Rastislav. The hill offers views in all directions. The site thus combines an experience of the landscape with visible historical and religious connections, without requiring you to limit yourself to a single attraction.

Walking, Cycling and Local Wine Tradition

From Vacenovice, Salaš Rúdník can be reached via a paved forest road. The route is suitable for a walk or a cycling stopover. At Rúdník, Habánský dvůr has also created a natural area with a barn, stage and sales trailer. The sales trailer offers refreshments during the warmer months.

The local wine tradition includes the Žlébky wine cellars. They comprise more than 20 cellars used by local winemakers to process grapes and store wine. In front of the cellars is a well-maintained lawn where cultural and social events are held in cooperation with the municipal administration and local winemakers.

Living Local Traditions

The Omladina association is also part of Vacenovice's cultural identity. Young people regularly come together there to practice dances and local traditions. Omladina appears in traditional costumes at various celebrations. This gives you access to living traditions that extend beyond the town's historic buildings and collections.
