Úsuší between Local History and Landscape

Úsuší combines historical traces with distinctive landscape features and marked trails through the surrounding area. This makes it suitable for a trip where you do not visit just one destination, but combine culture, nature, and different ways of exploring the area.

Chapel and Finely Crafted Small Monuments

A visible landmark of the local history is the chapel dedicated to the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. It was built in 1882. However, the history of the village goes back further: Úsuší was first mentioned in 1466. More than four centuries lie between the first mention in 1466 and the construction of the chapel in 1882. The chapel therefore belongs to a later period of the local history than the first mention.

The Boží muka of Úsuší are finely crafted Neoclassical stone pillar shrines with elaborate detailing. As small religious monuments, they form part of the local history of Úsuší and a notable regional ensemble. This ensemble represents a transitional type between Baroque pillar shrines and stone crosses.

Fields, Forest, and Cascading Ponds

Úsušský remízek is a small woodland surrounded by fields and is considered a significant landscape feature.

Another landscape feature is Pod Čudánkou in the Tišnovsko region. There, ten temporarily water-filled cascading ponds were created along a seasonal stream. The stream and ponds therefore form part of a landscape area with changing water flow. The ponds do not hold water permanently, but only periodically; it is precisely this change that distinguishes the area from an ordinary pond landscape. Seasonal water flow means that the ponds do not contain water continuously.

Cycling and Hiking with Different Profiles

The Deblín–Úsuší–Nelepeč–Žernůvka cycling route is considered a challenging mountain-biking route. The route connects Deblín, Úsuší, Nelepeč, and Žernůvka; at the same time, it runs along the Loučka River and the Závistka stream. The route thus connects four places with two different bodies of water. This creates a specific difference when choosing a route: the hiking trail is marked green and leads over summit areas, while the cycling route is considered a challenging mountain-biking route.

On foot, a green-marked hiking trail leads over the summit areas of Pasník and Loučský vrch to Úsuší. For cyclists, the route in Úsuší reconnects with a marked cycling route and descends to Čížky. From Úsuší to Nelepeč, the route can be shortened via a marked cycling route. This gives the cycling route two specific directions: down to Čížky or via the shortcut to Nelepeč.
