Discover Únanov
Únanov brings together water-based activities, protected nature, and local culture within a compact area. Those travelling with children will find several opportunities for a varied stay at the Koupaliště Pohoda complex, while anyone seeking landscapes and distinctive species can discover natural monuments and valuable habitats in the surrounding area. There is also a church with Gothic architectural features, modern sacred architecture, and festivals that showcase the local character.
Water, Play and Exercise
Koupaliště Pohoda offers a swimming pool and a leisure pool. For younger visitors, the facilities include a children's pool, a slide, a water slide, and a water cave. Massage loungers provide an additional way to relax. The complex also includes adjacent sports courts and a children's playground. This makes it possible to combine different activities in the same area without limiting the day to a single pool.
There are also concrete options for active time together. The Koupaliště Pohoda grounds include two tennis courts with an artificial surface and a multi-purpose court for ball games. At the edge of Únanov in the direction of Plaveč, you will also find FitPark, an outdoor fitness centre for several generations. The range therefore extends from water fun and play to sports facilities for different age groups.
Protected Landscape and Rare Species
PP Losolosy is located near Únanov and is one of three areas protected as natural monuments. PP Losolosy protects heat-loving plant communities and provides habitats for protected plants and several bird species. The nearby EVL Kopečky u Únanova consists of two steppe hills northeast of Únanov and complements this landscape with a clearly defined geological and botanical character.
The PP Kopečky u Únanova natural monument protects dry and heat-loving plant communities with numerous rare and endangered plant and animal species. Particular attention is given to the highly endangered great pasque flower, scientifically known as Pulsatilla grandis. PP Kaolinka is also an area of significant scientific value. The Italian crested newt, Triturus carnifex, is found there; the area is also home to other rare plant and animal species associated with wetland and disturbed-site habitats. For visitors interested in nature, this creates a distinctly different experience from the leisure facilities at the swimming pool.
Church, Chapel and Local Traditions
The Church of Saint Procopius in Únanov preserves Gothic architectural features in the presbytery and the lower part of the tower. A modern architectural contrast is provided by the Chapel of the Virgin Mary and Saint John Paul II. It stands on the northwestern edge of Únanov. Anyone who wants to experience not only leisure activities but also different forms of sacred architecture during their trip will find two distinct places to visit here.
The local events calendar includes the traditional Únanovské posvícení, a festival featuring a weekend full of music, dancing, and entertainment. On Saturday, 25 April 2026, the seventh edition of the intergenerational Pohoda Run Únanov running competition also took place. This date is part of the documented history of the event and should be regarded as a past date.
