Medlice: Village History, Natural Swimming Pool and Traditional Customs

Medlice is a destination for you if you do not want to judge a small Czech village solely by a single attraction. Graves of the Únětice culture dating from around the 17th century BC were found there. Graves of French soldiers also date from the years 1805 to 1809. Part of the French troops marched from Přeskače via Medlice to Horní Kounice. Traditional customs throughout the year

Several customs give Medlice its own cultural character. A procession is part of the local tradition on the Sunday before Easter: girls carry a Smrtolka decorated with colorful ribbons through the village. There is also a traditional masked carnival procession through the village, followed by a celebration in the evening. Another traditional custom is the pilgrimage in honor of Saints Cyril and Methodius. These customs distinguish the different ways of experiencing Medlice: alongside the landscape and buildings, communal celebrations are also a central focus.
