Střelice between village history and protected nature

Střelice combines an impressive village history with protected landscapes and a railway station connected to railway lines 240 and 244. Church, Museum and Traces of Local History

The Church of the Holy Trinity is the oldest building in Střelice. Its five-sided chancel forms an original Gothic chapel. Two walled-up Gothic vaults in the southern wall attest to the medieval origins of the church. The west tower also features a remarkable detail: its rectangular entrance portal has a profiled stone surround.

Inside, there is a Baroque altar dating from the second half of the 18th century. The altarpiece was painted by Josef Stern. The church thus offers not just a single historical reference, but several clearly identifiable architectural elements and artistic features from different periods.

Střelická bažinka is a natural monument covering approximately four hectares, designated in 1980. It is a peat bog in the floodplain of the Bobrava stream. Wetland communities, reed beds and an adjacent beech stand shape the documented natural area. The crested newt (Triturus cristatus) and the fire-bellied toad (Bombina bombina) occur there; in addition, the smooth newt and the critically endangered crested newt reproduce there regularly.

A seasonally distinctive observation is possible in spring: along the banks of Střelická bažinka, visitors can observe the return of numerous frogs for breeding. This specific natural phenomenon adds a clearly time-limited moment to the view of the protected area.

The Střelický les is also part of the landscape. This protected natural area, designated in 1980, is one of the richest sites for the protected white dittany plant (Dictamnus albus L.). Cycling and Travelling Without Your Own Car

The POD LESEM pump track adds a sporting option to the historical and nature-related themes.
