Discover Rozdrojovice: Forest Trails and Living Traditions

Rozdrojovice combines forest landscapes with specific trails, historic sites, regional festivals, and local brewing culture.

Rozdrojovické lesy and trails in the surrounding area

The Rozdrojovické lesy forest complex borders the built-up area of Rozdrojovice. Most of this area is occupied by a game enclosure for keeping mouflon and fallow deer. The area also contains the educational trail “Vodní nádrž Brno, Brněnská přehrada jak ji neznáte II”. The forest complex therefore brings together woodland, a game enclosure, and an educational trail connected with the Brněnská přehrada.

Hiking and cycling trails lead from Rozdrojovice to the Brněnská přehrada, Veveří Castle, the pilgrimage site of U Tří křížů, and Veverská Bítýška. Another option is the 5.7 km route “Od Rozdrojovic k tajným výhledům na hrad”, which starts and ends in Rozdrojovice. On this route, the trail descends from Spáleňák to a saddle. From there, Veveří can be seen without trees obstructing the view. The route thus connects the starting and ending point in the village with a specific viewpoint.

The Rozdrojovická studánka can also be reached from Rozdrojovice. The trail begins at the “Rozdrojovice, BUS” stop or trail junction and follows the red-marked trail past weekend cottages into the valley. The starting point and marked route give this destination a clear approach.

Chapel, Memorial Site, and Festivals

The history of the village includes the Rozdrojovická kaplička, built in 1826–1827 and dedicated to Saint John of Nepomuk. A memorial to the victims of the world wars also stands in the park in the center of Rozdrojovice. The chapel represents the history of sacred architecture, while the memorial commemorates the consequences of the world wars.

The event calendar is divided between two regular occasions. Mladé Hody takes place in mid-May. It includes a procession of couples in traditional dress, during which sprigs of rosemary and wine are offered, followed in the evening by dancing of the Česká beseda and Moravská beseda. Babské hody takes place in September. A procession of women and girls in traditional dress passes through the village; dancing takes place at the homes of the Stárky, and guests receive small refreshments. The two festivals therefore differ in season, procession groups, and format.

Beer Knowledge and Tasting in Rozdrojovice

The Rojc craft brewery in Rozdrojovice offers another facet of the village. There, visitors receive an expert explanation of the brewing of bottom-fermented and top-fermented beers. Afterwards, it is possible to taste at least six types of beer directly from the tanks. At Rojc, an explanation of the production process is therefore followed by specific tastings from the brewery.
