Přísnotice between sacred history and landscape

Přísnotice combines a clearly recognizable local history with a landscape that takes on different forms within a small area. At its center is the Church of Saint Wenceslas, while forests, bodies of water, and wetlands characterize the surrounding area. There is also a notable connection for cyclists: the Jantarová stezka long-distance cycling route passes through Přísnotice. The Church of Saint Wenceslas

The Church of Saint Wenceslas in Přísnotice was built in 1873 on the site of a chapel dating from 1861. In 1905, it was expanded with two side aisles. The building therefore tells its story not only through a single construction phase, but also through the development of a rural ecclesiastical building over the course of the 19th and early 20th centuries. The church is regarded as a valuable example of late Historicist rural ecclesiastical architecture and is used for religious services. It is therefore a particularly concrete reference point for understanding the village: its construction date, expansion, and present-day use belong together here, without reducing the church to merely a historical date.

Forests, water, and special habitats

The Přísnotický les European Site of Importance is located in the central section of the Dyje–Svratka valley depression, 1 km northeast of the center of Přísnotice on the right bank of the Šatava. The great crested newt (Triturus cristatus) occurs in the Přísnotický les. A vital population of the fire-bellied toad (Bombina bombina) regularly breeds in the wetlands of the Knížecí les. These two amphibian populations give the landscape a biological dimension that goes beyond simple woodland and meadow scenery.

Two small water basins are located in the northern part of Přísnotice. A small pond lies to the southwest, while the extensive Nosislavský les stretches from the eastern edge of the village. The Přísnotický les lies northeast of the center. The bodies of water and forests are thus distributed across several sides of the village.

Monuments with their own historical significance

The Přísnotice reconciliation cross is considered the oldest surviving monument in the municipality. The route there passes by the rest area at kilometer 24 of the Brno–Vienna cycle route. Another memorial stands in the park on the village square in Přísnotice: it is a monument to the victims of both world wars. A monument to Kryštof Krause also stands on the “prostředních pásech” near Přísnotice. The monuments are thus associated with different local contexts and show that the history of Přísnotice encompasses religious, communal, and personal memories alike.
