Syrovín – Winegrowing, Baroque and Císařské hody

Syrovín combines historic buildings, winegrowing and firmly established local traditions within a compact thematic setting. Baroque church and small monuments

The cultural centre is the Church of the Conversion of St Paul. The Baroque building dates from 1713 to 1716 and was built at the expense of the Syrovín priest Pavel Jaroš. The church is considered an architecturally valuable building in a prominent location. It therefore provides a particularly distinctive historical landmark if you want to get to know Syrovín not only as a place to stay, but also through its architectural history.

Other noteworthy buildings include the Chapel of Our Lady of Sorrows on the southern edge of Syrovín. It dates from 1888 and is listed as a cultural monument. The Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes, dating from 1940, also stands on the road to Újezdec. Both chapels complement the older Baroque church with clearly different periods of origin. Opposite the municipal office, a restored fire engine from 1899 is displayed in a glass case. This detail broadens the perspective from sacred architecture to local social and technological history.

Winegrowing and the signposted Bzenecká route

Winegrowing in Syrovín has attracted the attention of local residents since the beginning of the 17th century. Today, the main varieties grown here on an area of 32 ha are Burgundské šedé, white varieties and Ryzlink.

The signposted Bzenecká wine route is relevant for a tour through several places. It runs through Újezdec, Syrovín and Těmice. If you want to make winegrowing the focus when choosing accommodation, you can therefore compare Syrovín with a stay along this route.

Císařské hody in October

Císařské hody are a fixed date in the local annual calendar. They take place every year on the third Saturday and Sunday in October. The Sunday programme includes a festive Mass in the local church. An active perspective on the landscape

Another way to get to know the surrounding area is the Závod Velkou Moravou run. It takes place every September and leads through the natural landscape of the Slovácko – Buchlovské hory (Chřiby) region, across fields, meadows and vineyards. Unlike the churches, chapels and historic fire engine, the focus here is on the landscape. This allows you to weigh up different priorities when planning your trip: cultural discoveries in the town, winegrowing and the route, or an annual sporting event in nature.
