Chapel and Traditions in the Village

The Chapel of Saint John the Baptist stands at the notional centre of Ostopovice, on Náměstí U Kaple. This gives the village centre a specific cultural focal point that differs from the natural and historical themes on the outskirts of the village. The small neo-Gothic chapel was structurally completed and consecrated in 1893. Its form and precisely documented year of completion make it a distinctive detail for visitors who want to get to know the village not only as a starting point for excursions, but also in terms of its own development.

Another link between village life and regional tradition is provided by the Hody festival. In Ostopovice, it takes place on the Sunday around the feast day of Saint John the Baptist, 24 June. Cycling Along the Bobrava Stream

The educational cycle path through the Bobrava Nature Park passes through Ostopovice. The route is approximately 25 kilometres long and is particularly suitable for trekking and mountain bikes.

Most of the educational cycle path follows the gently babbling Bobrava stream. This gives the route a specific landscape character in addition to its length and suitability. Those who want more from cycling than simply covering the distance, and would like to experience the course of a stream and the surroundings of the nature park, will find a different focus here than when visiting the chapel or the historical traces on the edge of the village.

The educational trail on Přední hora offers beautiful views of Ostopovice. It complements the view from the village with a perspective of the municipality itself. Another educational trail provides information about how the forest functions and its inhabitants. In Ostopovice, therefore, the focus is not only on individual destinations, but also on paths that connect the landscape with knowledge about nature.

Remains of Hitler's motorway can also be found on the outskirts of Ostopovice. This historical connection is taken up by the route “In the Footsteps of Hitler's Motorway and the Masaryk Valley”. It starts at the Ostopovice, Branky stop.
