Kupařovice uniquely combines Baroque architecture, a historic horse-breeding tradition and the landscape of Niva Jihlavy Nature Park. Castle and Baroque Architecture

Kupařovice Castle is located on the eastern edge of Kupařovice and is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. It was built between 1739 and 1743 based on a design by architect František Antonín Grimm. Its architectural form also makes the building interesting for visitors who want to experience historic architecture beyond simply learning dates: The castle has two floors, two wings with rectangular floor plans and a passage along the transverse axis.

The local heritage landscape also includes the Chapel of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary. It is a Baroque round rotunda; construction began after 1718, and it was consecrated in 1722. The chapel and a stone Baroque cross are protected as cultural monuments. At the same time, its present condition is part of a realistic assessment of the site: The chapel is currently in a dilapidated state. When planning a trip, it is therefore advisable to distinguish between the building's cultural and historical value and the possibility of expecting regular visitor access.

Niva Jihlavy Nature Park and the Cycling Route

Niva Jihlavy Nature Park is intended to protect the character of the landscape while also allowing for appropriate tourism and recreation. A characteristic feature is the naturally meandering course of the Jihlava River. In this area, the river is up to 20 m wide and 2 m deep. These measurements refer to the river within the nature park, not to a cycling or hiking route.

The Krumlovsko Cycling Route, which passes through Kupařovice, is also relevant for active days. This makes the town a specific point of reference for a trip in which travelling by bicycle plays a role.

The History of the Dietrichstein Horse-Breeding Tradition

Another historical layer is represented by the Dietrichstein horse-breeding tradition. During the period under review, the central stud farm of this horse-breeding operation was located in Kupařovice. Its history began in 1666: Prince Ferdinand Joseph of Dietrichstein had horse stables built on a newly acquired estate, intended to serve as the foundation for a future stud farm. The horse-breeding tradition thus adds an independent historical legacy to the architectural history of the castle, one that is significant to the historical development of Kupařovice.
