Landscape along the Jevišovka and Nedveka

A considerable part of the cadastral area of Jiřice u Moravských Budějovic lies within Jevišovka Nature Park. The nature park was established to protect the landscape of the gently rolling hills along the middle course of the Jevišovka and its tributaries, including the Nedveka. The focus is therefore not just on a single viewpoint, but on a landscape area with its own geographical character.

The woodland around the Nedveka also contributes to this character. Part of it, including the Černý les, has a submontane character. Visitors thus encounter a contrast between the open, gently rolling forms of the nature park and the wooded areas along the watercourse. Those looking for varied landscape impressions will therefore find in Jiřice natural features that cannot be reduced to a single attraction.

Meditative Stations of the Cross and Anička Lookout Tower

A particularly distinctive experience is the Meditative Stations of the Cross. It runs through a former orchard and comprises 14 stations with a total of 17 paintings by Bedřiška Znojemská. The site also includes a gallery with paintings by the same artist. The combination of the path, stations and art gives the visit a distinctly different character from an ordinary tour of the town.

At the end of the Meditative Stations of the Cross stands the approximately ten-meter-high wooden Anička Lookout Tower. It is freely accessible. Visitors can park at the beginning of the Meditative Stations of the Cross and walk approximately 150 meters comfortably from there to the Anička Lookout Tower. This clear orientation makes the lookout tower interesting even for a short outing, while the path itself remains an attraction in its own right thanks to its 14 stations and paintings.

The Meditative Hermitage is also located in a forest near the Anička Lookout Tower. It is intended for silence, contemplation and relaxation, adding a deliberately secluded place to the site.

Townscape, monuments and firefighting history

The historic center of Jiřice u Moravských Budějovic is laid out as a compact circular village. A chapel stands on the village square and is one of the protected monuments in Jiřice u Moravských Budějovic. The municipality built it in 1869 at its own expense. Another small religious monument is the masonry wayside shrine of Saint Procopius in the Na pískách fields along the road to Prokopov.

The Hasičské muzeum offers another perspective on regional history. There you can see horse-drawn fire engines and old hand-operated fire extinguishers, as well as firefighters’ helmets and uniforms.
