Ježkovice between Woodland Landscapes and History

When looking for a hotel in Ježkovice, it is worth taking a look at the village itself: here, a varied nature trail, visible traces of early settlement and small sacred monuments come together. The approximately 6 km-long Černov Nature Trail begins directly opposite the municipal office. This provides a direct starting point for exploring the landscape within the village itself, while other historic sites offer their own focal points.

A Nature Trail through Hilly Terrain

The Černov Nature Trail leads through fairly hilly, wooded terrain. Information boards explain historical and natural points of interest along the way. The route therefore combines impressions of the landscape with clear information about what can be seen en route. You can choose between a stay focused mainly on the village and its cultural monuments and an outing framed by the surrounding woodland.

Views and Orientation in the Village

Since 2015, a hexagonal shelter with a gabion base has stood west of Ježkovice. From there, you can see the entire village and the newly reconstructed municipal retention basins. The site complements the impressions of the nature trail with a clear view over Ježkovice and shows how closely the village panorama and open landscape are connected.

Sacred Monuments and Places of Remembrance

There are seven smaller sacred monuments in the cadastral area of Ježkovice, recorded in the Central Register of Cultural Monuments. One of the village's notable features is the bell tower in the centre, opposite the municipal office. It has one bell and a niche containing an image of Saint Florian. The Chapel of the Sacred Heart of Jesus was built in 1939.

The culture of remembrance is also present in the village landscape. The Ježkovice monument to those killed and missing in the First World War depicts a weeping woman and a child looking at a military helmet wrapped in laurel leaves. The monument lists a total of 36 names. At the edge of Ježkovice in the direction of Ruprechtov, there is also a monument commemorating the surrender of the German army in the Second World War, in the form of a stone block by the forest.

The Celtic Černov Hillfort

The Celtic Černov hillfort lies in the vicinity of Ježkovice, 2 km from the village. It is one of the earliest pieces of evidence of Celtic settlement in the Czech Republic and the only verified site in Moravia dating from the early period of Celtic settlement. The oval hillfort, covering 9.3 ha, lies on a wooded promontory. Its fourfold fortification is still visible in the terrain. This gives the village's history a much older dimension than the documented history of Ježkovice, which dates back to 1375.
