Jaroslavice Castle creates a different architectural accent. It is a monumental, single-storey building with four wings arranged around a large rectangular courtyard. In its present extent, the castle was probably built in the 1560s and 1570s by Scipione of Arch. This cautious dating is just as much a part of the building’s history as its unusual layout with the enclosed courtyard.

Wine and local traditions

Jaroslavice can also be discovered through its recurring events. The Open Cellars event takes place every year and focuses on the local wine tradition. The Blessing of the New Wine is also held annually. Both events give your stay a seasonal and community-oriented dimension, without requiring you to limit yourself to a purely historical sightseeing tour.

A celebration organized by Jaroslavická chasa is also part of the local tradition. Every year, on the first Saturday in September, it holds a traditional costume ball with the raising of the maypole to mark the name day of Saint Giles on September 2. Anyone visiting Jaroslavice at this time will encounter a custom explicitly linked to the town’s patron saint and the cycle of the year.

Water, protected nature and easy cycling routes

Jaroslavický Pond turns attention toward a stay by the water and attracts anglers. At the same time, the pond is protected as a natural habitat for a large number of waterfowl within the Natura 2000 network. This gives you another way to experience Jaroslavice: the town is shaped not only by buildings and events, but also by a documented natural area of particular importance for waterfowl.
