Discover Chvalovice: Wine, History and Family-Friendly Trails

Chvalovice combines historical landmarks, wine-making traditions and a variety of opportunities for active days. If you would like to discover a place with unusual architectural details, a guided visit to a former infantry fortification and trails for families, you will find a range of experiences here within a compact thematic area.

History with specific visiting requirements

The MJ-S 4 “Zatáčka” infantry fortification can only be visited as part of a guided tour accompanied and explained by a guide. There is no minimum number of participants. The tour route takes approximately 45 minutes. Important for your planning: Access to the site is permitted only in the presence of the operator or a person authorised by them. The visit is therefore clearly tied to a guided tour and the presence of an authorised accompanying person.

Church, Kellerzeile and wine-making traditions

St. Margaret's Church preserves architectural elements dating from around 1500. These include the chancel, the tower and the surrounding walls of the nave. The tower is topped by a crenellated crown, with a brick pyramid at its centre. At the rectangular main entrance, you can see the coat of arms of Louka Abbot Řehoř Vamberk and the year 1766. The church thus combines older architectural elements with a distinctive entrance detail dating from a later period. The chancel, tower, walls, crenellated crown and portal allow you to view various design elements in one place.

The Chvalovice Kellerzeile is part of the local history of wine-making. It runs along the Raníte towards Šatov; the cellars are carved into sandstone and are mostly unvaulted. The protected tithe cellar from 1770 has a decorated Baroque façade with a coat of arms. Historically, it was used by Louka Premonstratensian Monastery to collect wine levies. The Kellerzeile is characterised by three distinct aspects: its route along the Raníte, the sandstone and its historical use by the monastery. Chvalovice also hosts the “Chutnání vín” wine-tasting event, which has already reached its 36th edition.

Active experiences by the pond and along the circular trail

Sport fishing is possible at the local pond in Chvalovice. On 30 May 2026, the Okoun Chvalovice Angling Club held its 26th fishing competition there. You can play disc golf on the Daníž circular trail. The trail also features children's play elements, appealing chapels and rest areas. This makes it possible to combine exercise, small discoveries and breaks in one outing without limiting the day to just one activity.

Forest park and outdoor activity zone

A pleasant path leads through a well-maintained forest park. It is suitable for family walks, inline skating and cycling trips. There is also a large outdoor activity zone for children and adults next to the football and multipurpose sports field in Chvalovice. In addition to historical and wine-related impressions, this provides opportunities for exercise and spending time together outdoors.
