Brumovice between wine routes and village culture

Brumovice combines wine routes, architectural history and traditional Hody celebrations. This makes the village an interesting choice if you want to shape your stay not only around accommodation but also around specific experiences. Brumovice lies on the 150-kilometre-long Velkopavlovická Wine Route. This wine route leads through vineyards and lanes lined with open wine cellars. At this length, it extends far beyond the village through the Moravian wine landscape. Two Moravian wine routes also pass through Brumovice. The Moravská Wine Route forms the backbone of the Moravian wine-route network and leads through all the wine-growing regions of southeastern Moravia. The two routes differ in their course: the Velkopavlovická Wine Route leads through vineyards and lanes with open wine cellars, while the Moravská Wine Route passes through the wine-growing regions of southeastern Moravia.

The church and the history of the village

A second focus is the Church of Saint Anthony of Padua. The Late Baroque church was built in 1784 by enlarging an older Baroque chapel dating from 1716. It is a single-nave building and is protected as a cultural monument of the Czech Republic. Its architectural history therefore encompasses the older chapel and its later extension; the years 1716 and 1784 make this development concrete.

Brumovice itself also has a long documented history. The village is a settlement of colonial origin dating from the middle of the 13th century. Jan Herben offers a personal connection to more recent cultural history: he was born in Brumovice on 7 May 1857. Exploring the village can therefore focus both on the medieval origins of the settlement and on a documented biography associated with a named individual. The historical arc thus stretches from the settlement's beginnings to the 19th century.

During Hody, a costumed procession passes through Brumovice. The tradition also includes the Brumovická zavádka and a tasting of wine from Brumovice.

A specific cycling connection through Brumovice

The “Stezka Velkopavlovickem – krajem modrých hor” cycling route leads from Kobylí via Brumovice and Morkůvky to Klobouky, thereby connecting four places along one route. Its course names the places in a clear order: Kobylí is followed by Brumovice, then Morkůvky and finally Klobouky.
