Landscape around Výhon

Výhon Nature Park covers approximately 1,700 hectares of the entire Výhon massif in the South Moravian Region. It lies in the cadastral territories of Blučina, Židlochovice and Nosislav. The steep slopes of Výhon are characterised by a mosaic landscape: vineyards alternate with intensively and extensively managed orchards, fields and gardens. There are also grassy strips along the roads and steppe grasslands. This mixture makes the landscape character varied, without the individual elements merging into a uniform area.

One particularly protected natural area is the Nové hory Nature Monument near Blučina. Remnants of broad-leaved dry grasslands are preserved there. Orchids occur in some places; there are also numerous other specially protected and rare plant and animal species. For those interested in nature, this highlights a specific difference between the extensive landscape of the Výhon massif and a specially protected habitat.

Cultural Monuments and Local Traditions

The Church of the Assumption of the Virgin Mary is a protected cultural monument. The three-nave building has a five-sided chancel and thus also offers a clear architectural detail for a cultural walk. Built in the Baroque style, the Marian column bears statues of Saint Barbara, Saint Florian and Saint John of Nepomuk. It was erected around 1720.

Another Baroque testimony is Boží muka, a three-sided wayside shrine from the first half of the 18th century. The term refers to a small religious monument; here, the three-sided form is particularly well documented. The brass band BLUČIŇÁCI is also part of the local cultural history. It was founded in 1920 by brothers Rudolf and František Kratochvíl. Blučinské hody continues to be celebrated in the municipality in its original form. Thus, alongside the stone monuments, music and festival traditions also represent the history of the town.

Views, Water and Cycling

The almost 18-metre-high wooden Akátová věž lookout tower has stood on the summit of Výhon since 2009. The tower provides a clear point of orientation in the landscape and complements nature observation on Výhon with a built destination. Blučiňák Pond offers a different accent: it includes a natural swimming area as well as wetland and littoral zones. Littoral zones are areas near the shore that differ from open water surfaces. Blučiňák Pond is best reached via the cycle path from the indoor swimming pool in Blučina.

The Brno–Vídeň cycle path is also relevant for longer cycling research; it is more than 130 kilometres long. When planning, this allows different scales to be considered side by side: the protected dry grassland at Nové hory, the lookout tower on Výhon, the water area at Blučiňák and a cycle route more than 130 kilometres long. Those interested in culture can combine these natural attractions with the church, Marian column, Boží muka and the preserved festival and musical traditions.
