Between Château History and Jewish Heritage

Myslkovice combines clearly recognizable traces of history with trails and events that bring the character of the village to life. The Jewish cemetery is particularly impressive: around 250 gravestones have been preserved there, and the site was established before 1750. In the western part of the village, there is also the area known as “Židovna”; most of the Jewish houses there have survived in converted form.

Myslkovice Château also tells the story of change over several centuries. It originally began as a 17th-century fortress and was later converted into a Baroque château. Because of its preserved historic structures and architectural elements, the château was designated a cultural monument in 2016. Myslkovice Château also includes a park with a pavilion – another component of the historic character of the village.

Traces at the Forest’s Edge and Trails Through the Surroundings

The Jewish cemetery in Myslkovice lies at the edge of the local forest along a blue-marked hiking trail. This makes it possible to combine a visit to the historic site with a walk through the surrounding area without losing sight of the village’s cultural significance. If you enjoy connecting longer routes with several places, the 41-kilometre KČT hiking route X leads from Krátošice via Myslkovice and Sedlečko to Soběslav. Its length is suitable for planning a more extensive hike; at the same time, the route connects several places in a fixed order, allowing the trail to be divided into different sections.

For an active change of pace, Myslkovice has a multi-purpose sports ground. After registering in the reservation system, visitors can play tennis, handball, volleyball, nohejbal and five-a-side football, among other sports. This complements the historic sights with a sporting option without detracting from the village’s rural and cultural character.

Masopust and Pivní slavnosti

Masopust in Myslkovice is a long-standing carnival tradition. The procession follows its usual route through the village. From 7 p.m., Masopust also includes an evening celebration in the château’s large hall. The tradition therefore encompasses both events in the village and a fixed evening gathering at the château.

Another recurring event is the Pivní slavnosti Myslkovice. Held annually, it is organized as a cultural event and attracts hundreds of visitors. At the Pivní slavnosti, visitors could enjoy beer and food in the château park. Myslkovice therefore offers different reasons for planning a trip: you can explore historic sites, take on a hiking route or plan your stay around a local tradition or event.
