Mirovice: Culture and Traces of the Skalice

Mirovice lies in the valley of the Skalice River and combines a distinctive river landscape with an unusually diverse local history. Highlights include historic religious buildings, a monument in the town square, a Jewish cemetery, a protected stone bridge and traces of mining near Slomínek. Cultural history in and around Mirovice

The Church of Saint Clement in Mirovice is originally Gothic and was later remodeled in the Baroque style. A large Schwarzenberg coat of arms is located on its gable. On Masaryk Square, the Marian Column commemorates the year 1717, when it was erected. Another distinctive structure is the stone inundation bridge in Mirovice, which was declared a cultural monument at the end of 2018.

The Jewish cemetery near Mirovice also offers an independent perspective on the history of the town. Around 240 gravestones have been preserved there. The cemetery was probably established around 1680 in the cadastral area of Myslín. It lies in the valley behind the town on the eastern bank of the Skalice stream.
