Želeč – Wellness, Nature and Cycling

Želeč combines several very different reasons to travel to the Czech Republic: wellness, cycling, protected nature, sport and regional history. Here you can combine relaxing hours at Wellness Želeč with a longer bike ride, the observation of rare plants or a sporting stay. The town also offers a special cultural attraction, as Špejchar Želeč preserves a collection of historic agricultural machinery. This allows you to shape your stay around a balance of active and more relaxing experiences.

Wellness as a relaxing focus

At Wellness Želeč, the relaxation pool features a counter-current system and massage jets. The facilities also include a whirlpool with a water temperature of 36°C. The wellness area is complemented by a Finnish sauna and an infrared sauna. If you would like a change of pace after a bike ride or a day filled with various activities, Želeč offers several clearly distinct ways to relax.

Cycling routes of 69 and 59 kilometres

The “Na Borkovická blata za lidovou architekturou” cycling route passes through Želeč. For your planning, the difference between the two stated route lengths is particularly interesting: the route is 69 km long, while an alternative route covers 59 km. During your preparations, you can therefore choose between the longer main route and the shorter variant without limiting the route’s character to just one type of outing.

Kozlov: protected meadow with a distinctive plant population

Kozlov is a protected natural monument in the cadastral area of Želeč u Tábora. The natural monument comprises a wet cultivated landscape meadow with numerous protected and endangered plant species. Particularly noteworthy is the exceptionally rich population of broad-leaved marsh orchids (Dactylorhiza majalis): the density reaches up to 10 specimens per square metre. This gives the natural side of Želeč a very tangible character that goes beyond a general description of the landscape.

Želeč Sports Complex

The Želeč Sports Complex includes a tennis court and two multipurpose sports courts with synthetic surfaces. The two multipurpose courts can be used for volleyball, Nohejbal, floorball and small-sided football. They are open to the public every day from 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. free of charge and without prior reservation. After that, access is available only with a free reservation. These clearly defined hours make it easier to fit sporting activities into your daily schedule.

Agricultural machinery at Špejchar

Špejchar Želeč has been closed since 1 September 2024; visits are possible by prior arrangement. At the Museum of Agricultural Machinery in Špejchar Želeč, you can see more than one hundred old agricultural machines as well as numerous devices, tools and implements. A visit to the museum complements the nature and sporting experiences with an insight into technical and agricultural history. For your planning, it is important to take the prior arrangement into account.
