Betschitz (Bečice) between local history, forest and water

Betschitz is located on Road II/147, approximately 6 km east of Týn nad Vltavou. The village combines a historic structure with forest and water landscapes. The first written mention of Bečice dates from 1396. Betschitz has preserved its historic village structure of scattered farmsteads with a more densely built-up central area. This makes the history of the village perceptible to you both at individual sites and in the overall form of the village.

Village centre and traditional pilgrimage

The central area of Bečice comprises the Chapel of St Vitus, pastures and a green space in front of the chapel. This green space continues southeast across Road II/147. The village centre therefore forms a clear cultural point of reference if you would like to alternate between landscape experiences and regional history during your stay. The central area thus extends beyond the immediate space in front of the chapel and connects the cultural point of reference with the green area continuing to the southeast.

Hvížďalka, Bečický Forest and the water landscape

The Hvížďalka recreational zone is located in the northern cadastral area of Bečice, with a holiday-home area associated with Bečický Pond. Bečický Forest contains a historic national cultural monument with a burial-mound field. In this part of the area, a recreational zone, a distinctive body of water and a cultural-historical site therefore come together.

The northern part of the administrative area of Bečice, with its forest, the distinctive body of water Vodnatý (Bečický) Pond and the Židova strouha, is considered the most stable part of the administrative area. The entire administrative area of Bečice is considered attractive for active recreation such as hiking and cycling. The central area with its chapel, pastures and green space creates a clear contrast with the northern landscape area. The green space continues southeast across Road II/147. The immediate surroundings of Bečice include the hills of Padělky [Záhoří u Bechyně], Na Novině [Žimutice-Třitim] and Horní Bludná [Hodětín].
