Mlečice between local history and landscape

Mlečice combines a long local history with a landscape on the edge of the Křivoklátsko Protected Landscape Area. Historical sources cite 1227 as the year the municipality was founded. At the same time, the landscape around Mlečice features streams with frequently preserved bank vegetation; parts of the valley meadows have also been preserved. A route used through the Mlečice landscape offers wide-ranging views. Thus, within a manageable area, the village presents itself both as a destination for cultural discoveries and as a starting point for a trip in which landscape and activity play a role.

When choosing the right type of trip, it is worth distinguishing between local history, announced events and active experiences. Anyone wishing to get to know Mlečice not merely as a name on the map but through its specific facets will find several different points of interest here.

Church, village square and historical traces

The Church of the Most Holy Trinity is at the heart of the village’s history. It has been a parish church since 1344 and is also a Gothic building dating from the 14th century. In 1896, it was restored in the Neo-Gothic style. A distinctive detail is located above the portal: a relief of Christ’s head is mounted there.

The village square also preserves a special connection to regional religious devotion. In June 1998, a copy of the statue of Our Lady of Svatá Hora was placed there. The statue of Our Lady of Svatá Hora was probably created at the beginning of the 19th century. Those interested in historical sites and religious art can distinguish two levels in this motif: the statue’s earlier history of creation and the later installation of its copy in Mlečice.

The church is also associated with announced cultural events. Advent concerts were announced there for 2024 and 2025. These dates belong to the documented event history of the village and should be understood as past announcements, not as an indication of a current programme.

Hiking, motorcycle tradition and cycle route

Mlečická ťapka is a recurring hiking event. At the third edition announced for 2025, participants could choose between two routes. This distinction is interesting for travel planning because the event does not refer merely to a single walk, but documents two possible routes within the same edition. In 2023 and 2025, joint spring hikes to the Chapel of Saint Vojtěch were also announced. Here too, the temporal status is important: these were announced events for those years.

Another tradition appeals to an entirely different interest. DACHL CUP is a traditional Jawa motorcycle event in Mlečice. Hiking, local history and motorcycle culture therefore do not represent the same experience, but rather different reasons to take a closer look at the village.

For cyclists, cycle route 0043 Krakovec–Zbiroh is a specific point of reference. It runs through the Mlečice area and follows a class III road. Together with the wide-ranging views along the route used through the landscape, this provides a clear picture of the scenic side of the village, without allowing any further details about route length, travel time or trail conditions to be inferred.
