Mirošov U Rokycan combines a remarkable local history with a landscape that can be explored in various ways. Churches and historic architectural forms are at the centre, while paths lead through forests and meadows and along waterways. Churches and the Townscape as a Cultural Focus

An important landmark is the Chapel of St. Joseph. Adam František Vratislav of Mitrovice had it built in Mirošov in 1693. Today, it forms the middle part of the Church of St. Joseph. Almost opposite, on Nejedlého Street, is the Mirošov parish house. The present two-storey building was constructed in the Neoclassical style in 1888 after the original Baroque house was destroyed by fire in 1887.

Náměstí míru also contributes to the historic character. Its buildings consist of a mixture of mostly late Neoclassical, as well as Art Nouveau and Baroque ground-floor and multi-storey buildings. A special opportunity to explore this cultural aspect in greater depth is offered by the walk “Mirošovský kamenný zástup”, which focuses on Mirošov’s Baroque sculptural decorations.

In the vicinity of Mirošov stands the Church of St. James the Elder in Chylice, which already existed in 1295. Together with its tower, it was restored again in 1753. Pilgrimages to St. James at this church were very well known until the 1980s; their tradition was subsequently interrupted in the area around the church. The exhibition pavilion in the courtyard of the Mirošov parish house hosts exhibitions, especially during the Mirošov pilgrimages and church fairs.

Hiking through Forests, Meadows and Former Quarries

The Mirošov Basin lies amid the forested Brdy Highlands, which surround it on all sides. A distinct landscape contrast is Lom Nad Planinou, a system of quarries that had already been abandoned towards the end of the 19th century. The site lies directly on the blue-marked hiking trail from Janov to Hrádek.

Another way to explore the natural environment is the educational trail “Stezka za černým diamantem”. Its stations provide information about coal mining, geology and natural monuments. The approximately 4 km-long trail leads through sections of forest and meadows and along waterways. Visitors can observe the local flora and fauna along the way. The result is an excursion that combines historical land use, geological topics and the landscape along a manageable route.

Archaeological Traces and Routes for Active Days

The fortified site of Dvorec lies on the bank of the Skořický potok in the Na Hrádku cadastral area. It consists of a high rampart with a flat, approximately trapezoidal surface. A horseshoe-shaped ditch, open towards the stream and accompanied by a rampart, encloses the site. Dvorec with its chapel is among the currently protected archaeological features. On the summit stands a small Neo-Gothic Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes beneath a linden tree protected as a cultural monument.

For cyclists, Kamínky Nature Park, located approximately 2 km west of Mirošov, offers another way to experience the landscape. The nature park covers 834 hectares. An asphalt forest road there forms part of a cycle route that leads, among other places, to Lopata Castle, Kornatice and Kozel Chateau near Šťáhlavice. Those looking for accommodation can therefore choose between a culturally oriented stay in the town and a focus on hiking or cycling excursions, without viewing Mirošov merely as a starting point for a single attraction.
