Kakejcov – Nature, Views and Historical Traces

Kakejcov brings together protected nature, sweeping views and remarkable historical traces within a compact thematic area. Protected Landscape around Kakejcov

The Kakejcov protected area is both a natural monument and a European Site of Community Importance (SCI) established to protect the great crested newt. The SCI designation complements its protection as a natural monument by adding a European dimension for this habitat. The endangered great crested newt (Triturus cristatus) is protected here; its scientific name provides a more precise classification of the area's particular importance for nature conservation. For visitors, this importance is most apparent in the landscape itself: Kakejcov Natural Monument consists of a small forest pond, a meadow and a forest edge.

The forest pond, open meadow and transition to the woodland define the landscape. The designation as a natural monument therefore refers not only to attractive surroundings, but to the specific protection of a valuable habitat.

Hiking, Cycling and Views

Several marked hiking trails and an educational trail run through Kamínky Nature Park. This makes it possible not only to view the landscape, but also to explore it via designated paths and an informative circuit. The educational trail offers a different way of discovering the area than a simple hike: the surroundings are experienced through its individual stops and connections.

In favorable conditions, the view from Kakejcov stretches from Český les to Šumava. The panorama is considered especially rewarding by cyclists.
