Discover Černošín: Castle, Nature and Historic Trails

Černošín combines local history with protected landscapes and trails leading to special points of interest in the surrounding area. At the heart of the town is the Baroque Church of St. George, while Kosí potok Nature Park, the ruins of Volfštejn Castle and Vlčí hora offer different destinations for exploring the town and its surroundings. This allows you to combine cultural impressions with walks through the landscape.

The church and castle tell the story of Černošín’s history

St. George’s Church was mentioned in Černošín as early as 1374. The present Baroque church in the centre of Černošín was built between 1711 and 1736. Anyone wishing to discover the historic character of the town will find a clear connection here to the development of Černošín without having to leave the town centre.

Another historic destination is Volfštejn Castle. It was founded in the second half of the 13th century on a spur of Vlčí hora near Černošín. The access trail leads from Černošín along the eastern rampart, around the southern side of the castle and onwards to the former manor farm. From there, you can ascend to the summit of Vlčí hora. The route thus connects the castle complex with the prominent mountain, turning the visit into a trail with several historical and landscape highlights.

Nature Park and Relict Pine Stand

Kosí potok Nature Park partly extends across the municipal area of Černošín. In a gorge-like valley of the stream, it protects biological and landscape values. Another special feature is Černošínský bor, a protected relict pine stand on the path from the football pitch in Černošín to Volfštejn Castle. These two natural features give the surroundings their own character and complement the historic destinations with a landscape perspective.

Educational Trail, Hiking Trail and Cycle Paths

The Kosí potok educational trail is 8 km long and provides information about the nature and history of the Kosí potok valley. It therefore offers a thematically connected way to explore the landscape and regional history along a longer route. Yellow hiking trail No. 6603 passes Vlčí hora, the ruins of Volfštejn Castle and Černošín. For planning purposes, you can choose between an educational trail focusing on nature and history and a marked hiking trail connecting several points of interest.

The cycle path network also makes it easier to get your bearings. Cycle path No. 2205 runs through Třebel. A starting point for walking excursions to Vlčí hora was also opened on the existing cycle route No. 2212. This starting point was equipped with a rest area, benches, seating, rubbish bins, a bicycle rack and information boards. This equipment is recorded as part of an earlier description of the starting point and should not automatically be understood as reflecting its present condition.
