Oucmanice

Oucmanice combines a clearly recognizable village character with cycling and hiking routes, nature experiences, and unusual insights into history and craftsmanship. The compact, circular village layout with preserved traditional farmhouses makes the village an interesting destination in its own right. At the same time, several paths lead into the surrounding area and connect Oucmanice with places such as Ústí nad Orlicí, Brandýs nad Orlicí and Choceň.

Village Square, Chapel and Traces of History

A stone cross dating from 1876 stands in the village square, with reliefs depicting saints. The Nejsvětější Trojice Chapel is also located there. The Neo-Baroque building dates from 1868 and has been protected as a cultural monument since 1958. The chapel stands at the end of a chestnut avenue, creating a clearly defined historical focal point in the village square.

In Hradníky, ramparts and an approximately 80-metre-long ditch from a fortification dating to the Late Bronze Age have been preserved. The site was also used in the Early Middle Ages. Those interested in the region's long history will therefore find a specific destination here that extends beyond Oucmanice's preserved village architecture.

Cycling and Hiking between Oucmanice and the Surrounding Area

For cyclists, Cycle Route 4049 connects Ústí nad Orlicí with Oucmanice. The route is described as moderately difficult, paved, and suitable for all types of bicycles. Cycling routes cross in Oucmanice; there is also a rest area for cyclists built by the municipality. An information board with a map of the municipality and important marked points in the village provides additional orientation.

Another connection runs via Klopoty from Oucmanice to Brandýs nad Orlicí. This path is part of an educational trail created by Ekocentrum PALETA. The Choceň–Oucmanice–Brandýs route is also designated for a longer hike. It starts at Choceň railway station and leads via Oucmanice to Brandýs nad Orlicí. This makes it possible to compare different starting points and route options without viewing Oucmanice merely as an individual village destination.

The Orlice Nature Park, designated in 1996, extends into the area of Oucmanice. When planning a stay, you can choose between cultural and historical sights in the village, a cycling route, and a hiking connection.

Ekocentrum PALETA and Activities for Families

Ekocentrum PALETA in Oucmanice offers programmes involving practical activities using natural materials and teaching about ecosystems. The offerings also include summer camps for families with children. This provides families with a direct connection to experiencing nature and spending time together, while the routes and historical destinations create additional opportunities for excursions.

Traditional crafts are also part of the local event culture. For Saturday, 5 July, the 13th edition of Cyrilometodějský den řemesel was announced in Oucmanice. The programme of Cyrilometodějský den řemesel 2026 at the sports field in Oucmanice included demonstrations of traditional crafts and activities for children.
