Radhošť between a cultural monument, a pond and a cycle path

Radhošť combines several different experiences: a remarkable church with a historic bell tower, a protected natural area at Šejval Pond and a cycle path along the winding Loučná. This means that your stay can be shaped according to your interests—cultural, nature-focused or active. St. George’s Church and its historic bell tower

St. George’s Church has been protected as an immovable cultural monument since 3 May 1958. The present stone church was built in 1773 after the original church burned down. Together with the bell tower, it was classified as a cultural monument and underwent long-term restoration.

The wooden bell tower stands in front of the entrance to the church on stone foundations and is covered with shingles. One surviving bell weighs 1,000 kg. Its inscription states that it was made in 1509. For visitors, this provides a particularly vivid introduction to the history of the place: not only the church building itself, but also the tower in front of it and a specific surviving item of its furnishings are part of the documented monument. The bell tower was restored in 2012.

Šejval Pond: protected nature north of Radhošť

The small Šejval Pond lies north of Radhošť on the road to Jaroslav. It covers an area of 2.34 ha. The pond and the adjacent area were declared a national nature monument on 12 May 1982 after a rare aquatic plant was discovered there.

Rare plants grow in the marsh meadow by the pond, including angular garlic and the broad-leaved marsh orchid. Visiting this area therefore represents a different side of Radhošť from the church: the focus is not on architectural history and restoration, but on the distinctive plant life of a protected wetland.

Cycling along the Loučná

A cycle path runs through Radhošť, offering a recreational opportunity for families with children. The route follows the winding Loučná and complements the cultural and natural attractions with an active way to experience the town and its surroundings. For families, this cycle path can therefore be a focus of the stay in its own right, without the trip being devoted exclusively to sightseeing.

Along the Loučná, a connection leads via Malejov Farm and past the horse paddocks in Janovičky to Zámrsk. The main road is not crossed along the way. This route connects several places along the trail. Radhošť is also located on the Pardubice–Česká Třebová railway line.

Special dates and other places

A visit to the restored bell tower is scheduled for Christmas Eve. A visit to the Christmas nativity scene is also scheduled at St. George’s Church on Christmas Eve.
