Lanškroun combines an engaging history with various opportunities to explore the surrounding area on foot. Lanškroun Castle houses the Městské muzeum Lanškroun. The building stands on the site of a former Gothic Augustinian monastery and today serves as a cultural and community centre as well as the town museum. Historic Buildings and Special Details

One of the town’s most prominent historic landmarks is the Renaissance Town Hall of Lanškroun, built in 1581–1582. Two valuable stone portals adorn the town hall; they bear the coats of arms of the landowners and the town. Another historic detail can be found at the Krčma pub, which has been documented since 1568. Such individual architectural and historical traces make Lanškroun interesting for travellers who want to get to know a place not only through major sights, but also through its preserved details.

The churches also offer different ways to explore the town’s history. St Wenceslas Church is an originally Gothic church dating from the 14th century. It belongs to the former Augustinian monastery, which now forms Lanškroun Castle. The church is used for services; concerts of sacred music are occasionally held there. St Anne Church was built in 1702–1705, probably to a design by the Baroque master G. P. Tencalla. It has been listed as a cultural monument since 1964. Monument protection also covers the enclosing wall of the former cemetery, including its gate, as well as the sculptures in the immediate surroundings of the church.

Hiking Routes for Short and Long Distances

If you would like to plan different hiking days during your trip, Lanškrounská KOPA offers an unusually wide choice of distances. The hiking routes cover 5, 10, 15, 20, 30, 60 and 100 kilometres. This allows you to select the desired route length according to your daily plans and hiking experience, without requiring all participants to choose the same format. The 5-kilometre hiking route is suitable for parents with children, pushchairs and wheelchair users, providing an explicitly described option for a shorter group outing.

The Lanškrounské rybníky educational trail offers a different way to get to know the landscape. It leads through the Lanškrounské rybníky Nature Park, which has been included in the Natura 2000 network. The trail is easy and also runs across wooden walkways and small bridges. This clearly distinguishes it from the hiking routes arranged by kilometre length: here, the focus is on the route through the nature park and its special sections.
