Dlouhoňovice between Nature Trail, Trails and Viewpoint

Dlouhoňovice lies below the wooded hills of the Žamberská pahorkatina and combines landscape, local history, cycling and seasonal sports activities in a small area. The 4.2-km-long nature trail is a particularly informative way to explore the village. It begins at the railway station and provides information about local history and geological origins. The trail therefore leads not only through the landscape but also focuses on the formation and development of the village.

From the Railway Station to the Nature Trail and Along Trails to the Castles

The railway station in Dlouhoňovice is located on line No. 021 and has borne the name Žamberk since it was built in 1874. This specific starting point is therefore itself part of the village’s history. For a hike connected with castles, a yellow-marked hiking trail leads through Dlouhoňovice to Písečná and the ruins of Žampach Castle.

In the opposite direction, you can hike from Dlouhoňovice through the Kriegwaldy Valley to Litice Castle and on to Potštejn Castle. This gives you different options for a day trip: the nature trail focuses on Dlouhoňovice, while the marked trails connect the village with other historical destinations. The exact choice depends on whether the focus should be on local history, one castle ruin or several castles.

Cycling Route, Ski Area and Sports Complex

Cycling route CT 18 also passes through Dlouhoňovice. Its section runs from Choceň via České Libchavy, Žampach and Dlouhoňovice to Žamberk.

The Dlouhoňovice ski area has a floodlit ski lift with artificial snowmaking and groomed cross-country ski trails. In summer, the floodlit ski lift can also be used for grass skiing and rides on mountain scooters. The Dlouhoňovice sports complex also includes a skate park and a children’s playground. In addition to longer trails, local sports and leisure activities are therefore available, with their use varying according to the season.

Bell Tower and Výhledna

The village’s historical details include a wooden bell tower from 1797. Výhledna provides a much more recent landmark: it was completed on 16 September 2009 and ceremonially opened on 19 September 2009. At the ceremonial opening in 2009, Výhledna’s entry in the Czech Book of Records was also confirmed.

In good weather, Výhledna offers views of the entire ridge of the Orlické Mountains, the Králický Sněžník massif and Buková hora. In clear conditions, the Giant Mountains can also be seen on the left horizon. The view is therefore explicitly dependent on the weather and visibility, but under suitable conditions it offers a far-reaching panorama across several distinctive landscapes.
