Morašice between village history and nature

Morašice is a place where historic village structures, notable architectural monuments and paths through nature come together within a compact thematic area. For families who want to shape their stay around culture, walks and more active discoveries, the municipality offers several different points of interest. The Church of St. Vitus, the historic village green, the forests around Morašice and the marked hiking and cycling trails are particularly distinctive.

Church, fortification and rural architecture

The Church of St. Vitus is the oldest surviving building in Morašice and dates from the first half of the 14th century. It was formerly a parish church and bears the registration number 14944 / 6-876. The church is therefore a testament to the long history of Morašice.

At the eastern edge of Morašice lies the Na hrádku fortification, about 150 m northeast of the Church of St. Vitus. A remnant of the original moat has been preserved there. Over time, two aristocratic residences, known as tvrze, were also built in the village. The historical development is therefore reflected not only in a single building, but also in the former forms of protection and lordship in the village.

The village landscape includes the historic layout of a circular village green, around which former agricultural farmsteads are arranged. There is also a wooden bell tower in the village centre. Numerous surviving buildings from the second half of the 19th century and the early 20th century are considered valuable examples of folk architecture. Local stone was used as a building material in their construction. Those who pay attention to details while walking through the village will therefore find not only individual sights here, but also a cohesive picture of rural architectural history.

Pond, Bylanka and the forests around the village

Morašice has an unnamed pond on the village green. It is part of the local landscape, as is the Bylanka stream, along which Morašice lies. The deep forests around Morašice are suitable for walks in nature and mushroom picking. The Morašická obora lies in the southeast of the cadastral area. The area is mainly inhabited by wild boar and mouflon.

Hiking and cycling around Morašice

Morašice lies at the intersection of a marked yellow hiking trail and a marked green hiking trail. These trails make the village a straightforward starting point for exploring on foot, without requiring a specific route or a particular daily itinerary. The MAGEO geological cycling trail also passes through Morašice. It runs through the area of the Železné hory National Geopark. Marked local cycling trails also intersect in Morašice.
