Tuněchody: Church, Habrov and Cycle Route 4112

Tuněchody combines historic church architecture with a protected landscape, a cycle route and traces of prehistory. The Church of the Beheading of St. John the Baptist in Tuněchody dates from 1350. It is a single-nave, rectangular building with a five-sided, enclosed presbytery. The architectural form can be understood without specialist knowledge: A single-nave building has one main nave, while the presbytery denotes the special chancel area. The five-sided ending is a distinct architectural feature in its own right. For culturally interested travellers, this provides a concrete connection to the history of the village without reducing Tuněchody to a mere historical date.

Another historical trace can be found in the southern part of Habrov: A protected prehistoric hillfort from the Late Neolithic is located there. A hillfort is a fortified site protected by ramparts. The hillfort and the church represent different forms of human heritage and give the cultural history of the village a broad chronological dimension.

Habrov: Forest, Meadows and Wetlands

Part of the Habrov Nature Reserve lies within the cadastral area of Tuněchody. It protects rare thermophilous plant communities in an oak-hornbeam forest with shrub margins, meadow patches and wetlands.

The hillfort in the southern part adds a cultural and historical point of reference to this natural area, without implying any specific visitor route or current access.

Cycling and Spatial Orientation

Cycle Route 4177 passes through Tuněchody and then continues via Úhřetice. Cycle Route 4112 also passes through Tuněchody. The Chrudimka River flows in the immediate vicinity of Tuněchody. The Habrov Nature Reserve can be accessed via Road II/340 or by a footpath along its western edge.

The Tuněchody railway halt also helps to place the village in context. It lies approximately 1 km south of the village. This figure is explicitly approximate and should therefore be understood as a general spatial reference point. The multi-purpose sports field in Tuněchody is also available to the public and can be reserved through a reservation system.
