Tri Bubny – Church, Fortifications and Cycling Routes

About 500 m south-southwest of St. George’s Church, part of the remains of a bastion has also been preserved. It lies west of road III/3583 to Orel and is completely hidden by dense vegetation. The exact location and the limited visibility of this find are among the distinctive features of the local history, but it should not be equated with an excursion destination that is freely accessible.

Beyond this individual find, Tři Bubny is also listed as an important archaeological site in category ÚAN I. This makes the place interesting for travellers who want to include not only representative buildings but also less immediately visible historical traces in their exploration.

Place name and historic routes

The name Tři Bubny originally referred to an inn. The name is recorded on Müller’s map of the Kingdom of Bohemia from 1720. Later, a road was known as the “French Road” because Russian and French troops travelled along it during the Napoleonic Wars.

Two marked connections are the focus for active days. Marked cycling route 4177 runs between Kočí and Orel through Tři Bubny. Marked cycling route 4181 runs between Libanice and Vlčnov through Tři Bubny.
