Ostružná – Mountains, Culture and Experiences in Ramzová

Ostružná amid mountain scenery and local districts

Ostružná combines distinctive mountain scenery with historic buildings and various places to experience. The eastern part of the cadastral area is covered by the Keprnická hornatina mountain range. The Branná rises below Keprník at 1,423 m and Šerák at 1,351 m. The valley of the Černý potok also characterizes the surrounding area: its sources lie below Smrk (1,125 m), Brousek (1,114 m) and Travná hora (1,120 m) in the northern part of the Petříkov cadastral area on the state border with Poland.

Church, chapel and the history of the village

Ostružná was founded in 1561 by the Kolštejn estate. The Church of the Epiphany stands in the centre. Its construction was completed in 1794. This late-18th-century Neoclassical church has been preserved in an almost authentic form; most of its furnishings were assembled from deconsecrated churches in Branná and Olomouc. Ramzová, a district of Ostružná, is also home to a Neo-Gothic chapel dating from 1897. This gives the village and its district various historic points of interest to discover. The two buildings therefore differ not only in their location, but also in their Neoclassical and Neo-Gothic forms, respectively.

Ski resorts, summer track and cycle path

The Ramzová ski resort begins in Ramzová, runs via Čerňava and ends in the Šerák area. The Ostružná ski area comprises Skiareál Ostružná, the TJ Řetezárna Česká Ves area in the upper part of the village and the Na Hájovně lift. Skiareál Ostružná has six groomed slopes on the northern slopes with a total length of more than 2 km and four lifts. The route from Ramzová via Čerňava to Šerák makes it easier to navigate between the winter activities.

Ostružná also offers specific destinations outside the winter season. The summer attraction “Horské minikáry a summer tubing Ramzová” includes a 380 m-long surface lift and an 855 m-long track. The Moravská stezka runs through Ostružná. Those who wish to take their bicycle with them can reach Ostružná by train. Ramzová is also home to the highest-altitude express train station in the Czech Republic. The two lengths help you plan the scope of this summer activity for your outing. This makes it possible to incorporate travelling by train with a bicycle into your daily itinerary.
