Česká Ves: Educational Trail, History and Panoramic Views

One of the defining attractions is the Naučná stezka kolem České Vsi: the educational trail is approximately 8 kilometres long and includes a total of 25 stations. It begins in the Krajník district at the Southern Viewpoint, leads through the centre of Česká Ves and continues to Čertovy kameny.

An Educational Trail Combining Landscape and History

Along the Naučná stezka, you will encounter the remains of wartime trenches, a restored wooden chapel, forest springs, stone menhirs and climbing walls. Watermills on the Pompeho říčka stream are also part of the route. The trail offers views of the Zlatohorská vrchovina highlands, the Priessnitz Sanatorium and, as far as the Polish plains. Čertovy kameny is a rock massif surrounded by numerous legends. An iron railing was installed there as early as 1892 to make it easier to reach the highest rock tower.

Local History Brought to Life

The cultural heritage of Česká Ves includes the Válečné muzeum Česká Ves. It is dedicated to local residents who fell in the First World War, prisoners of war from the Second World War and the fates of soldiers from more recent deployments. Other exhibitions cover Czechoslovak pre-war fortifications, the mobilisation of the Czechoslovak army in 1938, and aviation and flight-related events in the Jeseník area. The museum is housed in a former fire station, whose foundations were laid around 1891/1892 and which served continuously as a fire station until January 2015.

The Church of St Joseph was consecrated in 1928 and stands out for its unusual twin-towered design and richly appointed interior. It can be visited by prior arrangement with the municipal office. The Budova Šoltézství is considered the oldest building in Česká Ves and is mentioned as early as before 1550. It is also the birthplace of Sofie Priessnitzová, who was born there on 17 September 1804 into a wealthy farming family.

Active Days for Different Interests

For sporting activities, Adrenalin Park Jeseníky offers a ropes course for children and adults, as well as an adrenaline tower, a large zip line, a free-fall swing, a bungee trampoline and a course for motorised quads. The Fitstezka above Česká Ves complements the range with TRX, high and low parallel bars, a slalom, jumping and balancing stations, as well as areas for stretching exercises and push-ups. Cyclists will find more than 230 kilometres of marked circular routes in the YEScyklo network, running mainly over the Sokolský hřbet ridge above the Jeseník spa resorts and through Česká Ves. The circular routes around Česká Ves, Jeseník and the spa area are suitable for average cyclists and experienced children.
