Waterfalls and Protected Landscapes

The Filipovické louky Nature Reserve (code 1527) is of regional ecological, scientific, and aesthetic importance. It protects endangered plant and animal species that depend on wet spring meadows and their habitats. If you want to understand the connections within nature while you are out exploring, the focus here is not on a single attraction but on a clearly defined habitat.

Vysoký vodopád is the highest waterfall in the Jeseníky Mountains, plunging 28 m. The approach from the “Vodopády” bus stop in Bělá pod Pradědem follows a blue-marked hiking trail and is approximately 3.6 km long. For orientation on site, the bus stop and the blue trail marking provide clear reference points.

The Rudohorské Waterfalls form a system of cascades with a total height of approximately 60 m over a length of about 120 m. The route to the waterfalls is intended for pedestrians and runs partly along a forest path and cycle route 6207. Here, the focus is on a sequence of cascades developed over a longer distance. The waterfall destinations therefore differ in the nature of the experience: a single high fall is contrasted with a spatially extensive sequence of cascades.

Hiking and Active Experiences

The “S Koprníčkem na Keprník” educational hiking trail is 14 km long, moderately difficult, and includes twelve stations with information about the history and nature of the Šerák-Keprník Reserve. It combines physical activity with informative stops, so you can consider the route not only in terms of its length but also through the themes of history and nature.

The small Ferrata Kalafatičova plotna via ferrata park in Bělá pod Pradědem offers a different type of activity. It features six short routes rated from A to C, as well as two rope bridges. The range of grades and the additional bridges give the site a clearly defined via ferrata profile.

Traces of History

The history, too, remains tied to specific locations. The remains of a medieval fortification are situated in the center of the Adolfovice district on the left bank of the Bělá River, near Road 44, behind the Jesan company premises and close to the “Bělá pod Pradědem, Adolfovice – Mlýnky” bus stop. The forest cemetery was established in the early 1960s as a memorial honoring Russian prisoners of war who were buried in the surrounding forests. The historical perspective therefore extends from medieval local history to a 20th-century memorial site.
