Lipova Lazne combines an engaging spa history with experiences in nature and a wide range of activities. You can discover historic traces of the spa tradition, make a note of the Jeskyně Na Pomezí as a documented cave route for later planning, or choose between various cycling options. There are also specific destinations for quieter days: the restored chapel near the Dívčí skály above the Pramen Císaře Josefa II., with its view of the ridge of the Jeseníky Mountains; a museum dedicated to local history; and a small zoo with numerous animal species.

Spa History and Views at the Pramen Císaře Josefa II.

At the Muzeum Johanna Schrotha, you can learn more about the development of spa treatments and the history of Lipová-lázně. The Pramen Císaře Josefa II. in Horní Lipová provides a historic point of interest on site. During his visit on September 1, 1779, water was brought to Emperor Joseph II there; a memorial pillar erected there commemorates the event.

A restored chapel stands near the Dívčí skály above the Pramen Císaře Josefa II. From there, the view extends to the ridge of the Jeseníky Mountains. This allows you to combine a visit to the historic spring with an impression of the landscape, even though the two experiences have different characters. Another distinctive landmark in Horní Lipová is the church: the single-nave building displays a simple Neoclassical style, has a powerful tower and a rectangularly enclosed presbytery. It was solemnly consecrated on November 2, 1788.

Trails, Caves and Animals

The Naučná stezka Johanna Schrotha was created for a historical discovery on foot. The educational trail is 8.5 kilometers long and leads through ten stations, where the history of the surrounding area is the main focus. Those who prefer to explore underground will find a visitor route of more than half a kilometer in the Jeskyně Na Pomezí. The cave chambers include Ledový dóm, Bílý dóm, U Smuteční vrby, Římské lázně, Klenotnice and Královský komín. Stalactite formations, cascades and small lakes shape the impression made by this route.

When planning, note the documented operating status: the Jeskyně Na Pomezí are closed to visitors from May 18, 2026, until the end of 2026. As another excursion destination, consider the Faunapark in Horní Lipová. The small zoo features, among others, pumas, a Ussuri tiger, kangaroos, meerkats, several parrot species, alpacas, llamas, an ostrich and turtles.

Cycling for Different Levels of Ability

The Lipovské stezky consist of two blue trails and one black trail. You can reach two additional trails via a signposted transfer and the climb to the nearby Toč mountain. The distinction compared with the Rychlebské stezky is clear: the Lipovské stezky are less demanding and are therefore suitable for families with children as well as beginners. When choosing a day of cycling, you can thus distinguish between marked difficulty levels and an explicitly easier option.

In summer, Lázeňský vrch also offers a practice golf area and a kick-scooter rental service with excursion tips. The Faunapark can be reached by car via road II/369, where free parking spaces are available. If traveling by train, get off at Lipová-lázně station.
