Nová Hradečná: Discover Culture and Bradlo

Nová Hradečná combines historic cultural monuments, religious heritage, local history and nearby Bradlo into a destination with several clearly distinct themes. The town’s history includes the rectory, the Church of St. Lawrence, the Chapel of St. Anthony and the traces of an ancient hillfort. Bradlo adds a landscape focus to these historical themes: The eight-kilometre educational trail leads from Nová Hradečná via the summit to Libina. Cultural Monuments with Their Own History

The rectory in Nová Hradečná is a registered immovable cultural monument. It was built between 1764 and 1768 by the then landowner, Prince Josef Václav Vavřinec of Lichtenstein. The Church of St. Lawrence was completed in 1764. It contains historic Baroque organs from the pilgrimage church on Svatý Kopeček near Olomouc.

The surroundings of the church are also part of the historical perspective: the church and cemetery are enclosed by a wall that is itself a cultural monument. Two sandstone gravestones of Schwarzenberg uhlans are set into the wall at the northern gate. A Gothic manuscript of the Roman Missal from 1420 contains historical notes by former parish priests. Traces of an ancient hillfort have also been preserved to this day in the cadastral area of Nová Hradečná.

On the outskirts of Nová Hradečná stands the Chapel of St. Anthony of Padua in Hradec. It was extended by a small chancel in 1895. The Chapel of St. Anthony was part of a pilgrimage route held regularly on 13 June; a Mass is celebrated in the chapel around the feast day of St. Anthony. In this way, it adds a religious tradition with a fixed date to the history rooted in the locality.

Bradlo and the Educational Trail to Libina

Bradlo lies in the vicinity of Nová Hradečná at an elevation of 600 metres and is the highest point of the Úsovská vrchovina. A panoramic view from Bradlo opens up vistas of Hrubý Jeseník, Králický Sněžník and the Hornomoravský úval.

The educational trail through the landscape of the memorable Bradlo leads from Nová Hradečná via the Bradlo summit to Libina and is eight kilometres long. Local Tradition
