Discover Císařov: Village History and Cycling Route in Haná
Císařov blends into the Haná landscape and combines an unusually clearly recognizable village history with cultural details and a marked cycling route. Those looking for more than just a base for their stay will find a compact destination here, where the village character, monuments and impressions of the landscape come together as a discovery in their own right.
A Village with a Planned Layout
Císařov was established in 1785 as a new municipality with 50 building plots. The municipality was originally intended to be called Joseflust. Its architectural form is also part of its history: Císařov was built with two rows of houses facing each other and evenly spaced throughout. These rows extend from northwest to southeast. For orientation on site, this regular layout provides a particularly clear insight into the origins of the village.
Cultural Monuments Around the Village Square
An important historical landmark is Farmstead No. 45, which is registered as a cultural monument in Císařov. The single-storey residential building has a covered passageway and a retirement dwelling. It is a rural building from the late 18th century; its façade facing the village square is decorated with original stucco plasterwork. This makes it possible to understand both the rural architectural form and the historic design of the village through a single building.
On the village square in front of House No. 6 stands the statue of Saint Anne with the Virgin and Child. The monumental late Baroque sculpture is dated to 1795. Another religious trace of the village's history is the statue of Our Lady of Lourdes, which was erected in Císařov in 1900. Together, these monuments give the village several historical layers, without Císařov needing a large concentration of sights to do so.
By Bicycle to Ponds and Protected Animal Species
Marked cycling route No. 5042 connects Prostějov and Přerov via Císařov. Those researching a ride between these two cities can thus place the village within a specific cycling connection. In the northern part of Císařov, visitors can see a cascade of ponds with protected animal species along this cycling route. A nature-focused section therefore complements the historical exploration of the village and offers a different view of the Haná landscape.
Choosing Císařov as a Destination
Císařov is particularly interesting for your travel plans if you would like to combine village history, rural architecture and a cycling trip. Those interested in culture can regard the origins of the village, Farmstead No. 45 and the two statues as different historical points of interest. Visitors focusing on cycling can follow the connection between Prostějov and Přerov as well as the ponds in the northern part. When looking for accommodation, you can therefore first decide whether the historic village layout or the cycling route is the main reason for your stay.
